NOAH CHRISTENSEN

In my day to day life, the emotions of myself and those around me inform the decisions I make. This translates directly into my creative process, and the music I produce. Leaving Tucson, Arizona at 6 months old, living in Stavanger, Norway for the next 4 years, and then Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia ever since, I’ve been surrounded by countless different cultures and influences.

 

Being a third culture kid, I have experienced first hand what it feels like to not know where you belong, or find yourself constantly searching for what truly is home. I have always had to find ways to make due with what I have, and search for connections where often it feels empty. This experience has allowed me to empathize with people across various backgrounds and cultures, and connect with people no matter how different we may seem.

 

I have always felt that it is my responsibility not only as a musician, but as a person to make those around me feel comfortable and respected. This has been my mission through the blooming of my musical career. As a collaborator, I strive to make sure that the people I am working with feel that their ideas are heard, and that their contributions are valuable. As a captain, I make sure that the team I’m leading is comfortable, and has all of the resources they need to succeed. As a composer, I have the responsibility of taking those listening through an emotional journey that stretches far beyond notes written on a page. Whoever lends me their time to listen to what I create, deserves to be given a unique and profound aural experience.

 

No matter how lost I feel, or how far away I have fallen from the path, I will always have music to lead me to the next step. If what I create can do that for someone else, I will be succeeding with what I was put here to do.
